The Friends For A_Dog Foundation, The Burlington Music Dojo and Higher Ground, proudly present, "Learning to Fly Live, our annual student spotlight showcase!! All proceeds from the event will benefit "Learning to Fly", a scholarship program bringing music lessons to Vermont youth, each year.

Join us at Higher Ground in the Showcase Lounge on Sunday October 5th, for a night supporting local music, youth, and community and performances from our scholarship winners & LTF music program graduates!!!

The Friends For A_Dog Foundation is excited to announce another collaboration with our friends at  Brooklyn's Building Beats Program. This two day event is a hands-on experience for youth that explores turntablism and DJ skills, beat production, and lyric writing and recording. With instruction provided by our expert staff, students will work collaboratively over two days to produce and record their own tracks.

Hip Hop Foundational Movement: Summer '24 Introduction to Hip Hop Dance

Through the form of Hip Hop, dancers will be introduced to the four elements of dance; Body, Energy, Space, and Time which are present throughout all dance forms. They will learn how to express themselves through movement, both choreographed and improvised, through guided instruction as well as with their own ideas and creations. Students will understand this to be a form of storytelling as well as a form of social protest/commentary as they simultaneously define and refine their self-expression. Hip Hop teaches discipline, strength, inclusion, cultural connections, history, respect, and performance goals. Hip Hop draws from all forms.
